ECO_SCHOOL AS A WAY OF LIFE

‘Eco-school as a way of life’ is a holistic school programme throughout the year which with specific projects pursues the objectives of the education for sustainable development. The projects in which they actively involve the local community and businesses, can be an excellent supplement on the way to achieving these goals. Eco-school is carried out through the entire school year and includes all students, of all ages, their teachers, and other employees of the school. The students as ‘eco-detectives’ draw attention to the irregularities in the use of energy and water. Together with the teachers they provide information about the latest events in the world, regarding to the protection of the environment, we create themed days for example: The Day of Waters, the Day of Biodiversity, and care for the wetlands, the European day of the parks, Earth day, Environment day, a day of struggle against AIDS, mobility week, a week of milk and dairy products, week of chemical safety, week of movement and the concern for a healthy diet, etc. The principal activity is the learning, design, and research in the field of the protection of the environment, the threat to the flora and fauna, visits to the industry, the interviews, and the creation of conclusions, and to raise awareness about the importance of protecting all forms of life, the causes of climate change and its solutions, and on the efficient use of energy and renewable sources of energy. In the context of the achievement of the above objectives, according to the class and in the lobby of the school of we separately collect old paper, used ink cartridges, mobile phones, cans, and electronic waste as well as waste from the textile products.
